6 Questions to Alina
1: If your kiteboarding style were a music genre, what would it be, and why?
Probably a mixture between Pop music and Indie Folk. I always aimed for a stylish flow in my riding that has expressive powerful peaks and is fun and nice to watch.
2: What’s the most bizarre thought you’ve had while kiting?
Funny enough I don’t think about certain things when I kite. The moment I hit the water all things disappear and its just about finding the perfect wave and getting the right timing in the turn. I am so in the moment of enjoying the spot, maybe the setting sun and the waves – I don’t really think of anything else then. Which is also what I love most about Kitesurfing and what it does to me…
3: If kiteboarding were banned and you had to join a secret underground kite cult, what would your kite name and initiation rite be?
It would say: “Don’t ever take this feeling that this sport gives you for granted.
4: If your kite suddenly became sentient mid-session and started talking to you, what would it say, and would you listen?
Pure stoke and happiness. – A Life-goal moment for sure.
5: You’re stuck in a kite loop that never ends. What thoughts cycle through your mind for eternity?
1. Haha wear more sunscreen (I think we all know we need to do it more)
But also: 2. Do what makes you happy. If that is Sun, Wind and Waves I’ll take the downsides ( mostly affecting skin and hair I guess) for that, at least I’ve done what makes me happy.
6: You meet your future self 50 years from now, still kiteboarding, but mutated from too much sun and salt. What advice does this salt wizard version of you give?
It would be a deep feeling of happiness, the smell of salty ocean air and a the sound of a squeeking dolphin jumping right next to me.
